1Who we are
DrillTrade is operated by [business name and ABN to be confirmed]. This policy explains how we handle personal information under the Australian Privacy Principles. Contact us through the support page.
2What we collect
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number and sign-in records.
- Business details: your trading account’s name and, if you add them, its ABN and location.
- Listings: descriptions, specifications, prices and photos. We strip location and camera data from the photos we display.
- Trading activity: messages, offers, hire requests and bookings, deal confirmations and reviews.
- Membership: your plan, renewal dates and receipts. DrillTrade doesn’t store card numbers; a payment provider handles card details when payments are connected.
- Support and safety: help requests, reports you make or that are made about you, and blocks.
- Technical data: cookies needed to keep you signed in, browser and device information, and IP addresses in security logs. Your device also stores saved equipment and unsent drafts locally.
- Distances: to show how far equipment is, we use the suburb you choose (kept in a cookie on your device) or, if you haven’t, the rough area your internet connection is in, which our hosting provider supplies with each visit. We don’t store that area.
- Automatic pausing: if a listing that’s for sale only hasn’t been confirmed or changed for 30 days, we email to ask whether it’s still available. If there’s no answer within a week and nothing is in progress on it (no open offers or agreed sale), we pause it automatically and tell you; you can put it back in one tap. Listings offered for hire are never paused this way. This is the only decision about your account we make automatically.
- Listing views and saves: to show sellers honest numbers, we count each person once a day per listing using a one-way key made from your IP address and browser that changes daily. We keep the key for up to two days and store only daily totals.
3How we use it
- To run the marketplace: show listings, deliver messages, offers and bookings, and display trading profiles.
- To keep accounts secure, prevent fraud and deal with reports.
- To send the emails you need (sign-in codes, receipts) and the alerts you choose in email alerts.
- To run memberships and keep the records the law requires.
- To provide search. When you search, the words you type are sent to our search provider so results match what you mean.
We don’t sell personal information and we don’t use advertising trackers.
4Who sees it
Other traders see your public trading profile (account name, reviews and completed-deal counts) and your listings. The trader you’re talking to sees your messages, offers and the name on your account. Booked hire dates are shown on listings without saying who booked them.
Our team can see account and listing details to provide support, and the recent messages of a conversation that has been reported.
Service providers process information for us:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and photo storage | Sydney, Australia |
| Vercel | Website hosting | Sydney, Australia, with a global delivery network |
| Twilio | Text-message sign-in codes | United States |
| Voyage AI | Understanding search queries and public listing text | United States |
| Email and payment providers | Sending emails and taking membership payments, once connected | [to be confirmed] |
We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect someone from serious harm.
5Overseas processing
Some providers above process information outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We choose providers with appropriate security and contractual protections.
6How long we keep it
- Account information is kept while your account is open.
- When you delete your account, we remove your sign-in details, business details and email settings, take your listings down, erase their text and delete their photos. Open offers and hire requests close, and agreed deals that neither trader has confirmed as done are cancelled. Messages you sent stay in the other trader’s conversation, shown as from a former member, and so do confirmed deals and reviews: they are the other trader’s record too.
- Emails held for our team to review (while no email provider is connected) are deleted after 14 days; the record of each email we send is deleted after 30 days.
- Financial records are kept for as long as tax law requires.
7Your choices and rights
- See and update your details in your account, choose email alerts, and block traders.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct it, through support.
- Delete your account from Sign-in and security.
